Artificial Intelligence is here and we are behind and exposed as humans. AI is not magic, but it is a combination of software and hardware with a vast array of applications that could replace millions of us in the workforce on a daily basis. We could just be reduced to feeding the machine. Most of us have heard about workers training their replacements as their jobs were shipped offshore and then automation pushed workers out of the door and took over many manual labor tasks. Now Artificial Intelligence is coming for those so called knowledge and creative workers. Analysts, actors and musicians are all at risk and governments are behind the curve on how to protect individuals from an exploding technology space.
Actors, musicians and analysts in countless industries are at risk of displacement from work as AI software systems capable of generating new music, movies and deciding what business moves to make displace a huge swath of people and their compensation. The former compensation derived by formerly highly paid employees will be converted into profit that flows upward to corporate executives and investors, but AI is a parasite that feeds off human effort, information and even likenesses. People input the data, provide the images, ideas and even voices, that is why in addition to a birth certificate we also need a human copyright that protects each individual from digital theft of their person for commercial purposes. A human copyright would prevent without negotiated compensation the use of an individual’s likeness, voice, intellectual effort or work product without contracted ongoing compensation from the user. Without something like a perpetual Human copyright we could all become digital human trafficking victims forced into unwilling and uncompensated AI servitude.
